  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

REKLUSE TYPE CLUTCH IN PRIMARY KICK MODEL

I am wondering if any one has ever fitted a rekluse type clutch to a primary kick start T/S or Evo model? I love my autos but every time I ride them I am waiting for the bang:cry:

I too have been pondering over this question. It would be great to have a Rekluse clutch in the WR (non-primary kick).
Have any of the boffin's out there looked into this ?

I had one on my '86 510 last year and it worked pretty well. It wasn't a Rekluse but another make (USA made) and to be honest was a little disappointing compared to my EC300 GasGas with a proper Rekluse on it. Rekluse don't make one to fit the old Huskies ( or didn't two years ago ) which is why I went with this other firm. I had to send my complete clutch over to the 'States and they made one especially for me, took a couple of months to come back and was a doddle to fit and set up, blooming expensive though! Anyway, I used it for a year and also lent it to a friend when his Beta GS250 blew up before last years Hot Trod, he thoroughly enjoyed it and got him around the course all day with no problems.
I have since put the 510 back to standard and have been meaning to try the clutch on my '83 WR430 to see if a two stroke suits it better.
I have to say though that the 420 Auto I have used most of this year is head and shoulders above a Rekluse system in riding terms but the downside is as all Auto owners know, the potential of the 'big bang'.
After years of riding the Husky auto's the biggest lesson I have learned is not to be mean with transmission fluid, I use only Univiss J26 and change it after EVERY ride. As a yorkshireman this was a big problem to overcome but it seems to have paid dividends as everything seems to last a lot longer.

Yes Steve that's the one. I think they advertise their kits for modern bikes at about $600, having one especially made cost about the same in £'s. Had a quick look at it today and remembered why I took it off, one of the retaining captive nuts fell off the basket. I was going to get it repaired but forgot all about it. Will crack on with that job now so I can try it again in the 430 2/stroke motor.
