  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Replace Stock Turn Signals

Need some suggestions for replacing the stock turn signals on my 2013 TE511. They are too wide and I've already had to repair them more than once. What kind and where to mount? It'd be easy to just put them where the stock ones were mounted but I'm open to suggestions.

How about these? Take them on and off in seconds.

I was looking at my stock indicators last week and think with a bit of care it might be possible to cut down the stalk slightly.

Do you need them. I ride without mirrors, horn and indicators, whilst fully registered I only ride fire trails and single trail.

As do I... But, there is always the chance you may get a Policeman that's had a bad day, and there you go... Defect!!! and a nice fine to go with it.

I like the Tuff Lights. Do I need the universal connector (barrel) or KTM connector version? (I know it's not a KTM but I don't know what connector)

I ride rough trails. I'd break those cheap ones just from vibration/shaking.
I think not, my wife got run over by a jerk on a quad before I took the pic. That's after more than 40 miles of off road. But if you think you're that studly, by all means do go spend more.

That stuff broke off first time out on dirt cause I ride like a man ... remounted the signals and LP frame with two 1/2x4" SS flat bars I bent at an angle under the tail light.

Wow, I guess some people are just hard on stuff. Of course if you throw it down the road like a man, I suppose anything will fail eventually. I only occasionally hit the rev limiter and bottom my suspension so I'm just a girly man, but my bike will be in great shape years from now. Hopefully I can use what's left of yours for spare parts. HA!

+1 on Tuff Lights. I tried several other aftermarkets before I found Tuff Lights. All the others blew apart within one ride through the Flagstaff cinder whoops.

Haha. I have the Cycle gear led front turn signals on my 511 and they are literally done. I will be adding our Tuff lights.
