• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Right side main bearing size - 1983 CR250

I order alot of parts from there. In this case my timing does not allow for it so the size of the bearing is needed as I am in a town that has a very reputable being shop that I have used before.

3205C3.

Make sure you get the "maximum capacity" version with 14 balls per side. Many places sell a 9 ball version... Don't do it!

Please check out SKF 3205 E C3 I have been using ZKLs as replacement - now I may switch based on oldbikedude post .

I called SKF and talking with engineer found that the E designated bearing is new engineering , new metal, new heat treat. I ordering one and will have one soon.

Not verified but it may have one less ball bearing per side, but still maximum rated.

I was happy with ZKL but unsure as the quality repeating itself during manufacture, being from a former iron curtain country. Cost was about 20 bucks

Cost on SKF about 82 and was quoted more. Also going to use their 6205 C3 for the left crank bearings for now on. Their explorer bearing has been
upgraded in roller design and metal used also a few years ago.

The tranny bearings don't have as much RPM so most good quality Japanese bearing can be used.

Still looking for higher quality needle bearings for the critical kick and idle gear. SKF may not make their caged needle bearing.

He said the INA bearing may make the beat needle product. not verified.

Please note SKF owns MRC - they make the 3205s .

Humm - guy said SKF being a Swedish company is obsessed with metal quality

SKF is definitely one of the very best. Expensive, but you get a quality product. This time, I'm using the ZKL. I was ready for a few new bearings, myself, so I called their U.S. distributor recently, as this bearing has been a hot topic here on CH lately. I was told that ZKL, too, has a very recently upgraded 3205C3. I just bought 3 of them for various projects. Of course, you can't tell how good a bearing is by looking at it, but it does have 14+14 balls, the loading slot, and very nice finish work. They will be L + R mains in my '73 400 and R main in my 82 500. Neither of these motors are finished yet, so no bearing failures yet! The ZKL's are so far working great on the workbench!

Oh - about a year ago I bought a full set of main and trans bearings from one of our "usually reputable suppliers" here on CH. Oddly, the right main arrived as a 9-ball version. I didn't recognize this at the time and, in fairness to the supplier, I never notified them. It would not be fair to say they knew about this and cheaped out on us. It could have been a surprise that slipped by them, too. I'm only mentioning this so we can all be aware... ask what they're sending you! I did not, and will not, use that bearing in any of my motors.
