• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Road Registering '73 Wr In Uk. Certificate Of Newness?

Hi,

I've not had much luck contacting Husqvarna/ KTM for a 'certificate of newness', does anyone know another way I can get an official proof of age certificate to send to the DVLA?
I've road registered more modern off road bikes in the past and usually the manufacturer will issue (at a charge of course) an official certificate to verify its age.

Some of the UK members on other forums have had a Motorcycle Club give them a dating certificate.... this advice about older models where the certificate is not available from the manufacturer might makes more sense to you than it does me as I don't know what the "DVLA" is:

"You either need the original title certificate (foreign version of logbook), or a dating certificate from an owners club recognised by DVLA ."

Some say that you can only use the club dating certificate if the manufacturer is no longer in business... other have said it works for 1970's or earlier models (specifically Yamaha examples) even though Yamaha is still in business.

The only links I've seen to get the certificate were to a Yamaha DT forum and a Yamaha RD forum in the UK where someone can apparently provide the letters... presumably for Yamahas? Maybe the DVLA has a list of clubs that might be able to help or maybe Andy at HVA Factory can help?

Thanks markt2. The DVLA is Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, it keeps a record of all vehicles and driving licences in the UK. Whenever a vehicle changes hands, newly registered, is modified etc then they are the ones you need to inform.
Any ideas on clubs I can join? I'll try contacting the DVLA again and ask about clubs.

That's the name of the company I used. I couldn't remember it in my message to you earlier.

That's great help guys, thanks a lot. My priority now is another engine, the guy rebuilding the engine has just stripped it down and said theres been repairs to crankcase (some of which I saw before, I think I mentioned it on another thread a while back).
Crank has damage too.
I assume the 400 engine would fit as the frame etc is the same.
Anyone know of an engine?
