  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rock: 1 -- Radiator hose: 0

OK, so the sun came out for a few hours today and I took a short ride on the 510. Shorter than I thought.... Within a minute the front wheel lost traction on a wet and slippery root and I dropped the bike on a rock that sliced the radiator hose on the suction side of the coolant pump. The hose was pinched between the rock and the pump cover. The hole was small, but big enough to cause a leak.

So, I have two questions:

1) Who sells the silicone hose set?
2) Has anybody come up with a way to prevent damage to the hose/pump? It seems like a vulnurable area and any damage is going to be a show-stopper. It really needs a cover or guard of some sort.

Hey Morris,

I never saw a guard specific for the hose guard but I could tell you Clays Radiator guards from 7602 racing drop down on the front and sides and covers that area really well on the 2010 TE 250.

Moto hose I believe sells a set of hoses for that model

They are Samco hoses and are the best you can find for a motorcycle.

Wow, nice ride. You need to paint that stand red though. The orange looks like...well, you know.... orange.

The hoses look great, but the UK is a little off the beaten path for me. I'm going to try and find something local here in California. I'll put the stock hose on for now if necessary, and order the silicon set. A spare set will come in handy.

Thanks

I got mine shipped for around $140 with clamps, and it took about 1.5 weeks, so the price and delivery time was great IMO.

another source for hoses, they have now incorporated the "Y" into the molding. They are a high quality company that deals in Hi quality aftermarket equipment, plus they have great customer service.
PS both of my lower cylinder hoses have a split hoses zip tied over them to double up against sharp stuff (like cactus spines)

They have the 2001-2007 TE 250 hoses on overstock for $54.

2008 kit for TE 250 is $115.

Anyone had experience using X-treme Tape, a silicon based tape? Says it won't melt to 500º. Fuses in 24 hours but bonds immediately. I have some but haven't had to use it. Got it from Duluth but I'm sure it's available at hardware stores.

I don't see Husqvarna listed. Do you have a part number?
