• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Roll chart holder...what do you use?

I need to get one soon. All I really see are the plastic ones branded by many companies and the gold plated Touratech one.... recommendations?

Thanks

Same cheap plastic one everyone uses. :>) (Moose Trophy roll) Can kind of see it here. Never had an issue with it but my needs are not huge for a roll chard holder.

I prefer the Countdown http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/9/192/7281/ITEM/MSR-Countdown-Route-Chart-Holder.aspx, seems cheesy to tape the clear cover on but you can see the whole thing, some of the Moose ones have a smaller window to see through and you cant see the whole chart. I'd recommend any one that is all clear on the top and you load from the top (the one you load by pulling them apart are a PITA IMO), dont waste money on some expensive billet touratech for something you'll use once in a while.

I just noticed the countdown is no longer available-the Moose Kelly mentioned would be my second choice (or my first now).

BZR ones are great for old bats like me who can't see anymore. Magnified top....slides right out.....rollers work well.

Joe, I like the BZR ones, but it seems next to impossible to get one from those guys. They don't have an online presence and seem to disappear from forums every so often leaving some people without the holder. Any chance you have a connection for me to get one of these?

thanks

I like the cheesy Countdown one, had it for almost ten years. For dry conditions I just run it without the cover. It is easiest to load and fiddle with. I don't use the hose clamp, just one industrial zip ty to mount it to the bars.

One tip for wet weather conditions: run a strip of scotch tape all the way down the backside of your paper chart. That way if it gets wet, it won't tear in half when you roll it.

Ya, I think I found they were $65 for the magnifying one. I'd like to talk to them if you have the info.

thanks
