  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Run Te-250 Without Electric Starter?

jxg

Husqvarna
AA Class
this may be a stupid question, but can I still ride my '10 TE-250 without the electric starter, while it is being rebuilt?

Can I put just the top part (referred to the Crown wheel and pinion body in the parts manual), cover it up, and ride? Supposed to ride this weekend, but probably won't get the starter back in time.

it wasn't a question about kicking, i was wondering if it was ok, to just cover it up and go. the good thing is I dropped it off at a local car place, and he had it done in less than 24 hours. gonna stick it in now and hopefully she fires right up (although he forgot to put the O ring back on, so I need to go find one somewhere.

My guess it weights just a couple of pounds, not sure though, no scale.

Seems like it would be OK to remove it but I've never done it ... I think I have read where others have but do not have a pointer to the thread ..

Get rid of the battery also and you are pushing ~10lbs loss between the 2 of them ... I remove my battery from time to time and the bike feels lighter ... Not sure if I go any faster, but it is easier to pick up ...

Haha that wouldn't be good! Sry I know you were asking about the kick starting but there is that 1lbs battery people were talking about on here....but as far as removing the starter.....duck tape! Haha or fabricate a cover?

No, unless you get the blank cover plate that is on the 10/11 TC250. The worm gear for the starter assembly is oil fed and will spew everywhere,..........ask me how I know? lol
