  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Do we have a place for scammer alerts? I've been very trusting on shipping parts but i think my luck ran out. Will know for sure tomm. and will be very enthusiastic to warn others!

I would like to see a place also just to protect others as we all have a great thing here .

I sold (sorta) a Husky tank to an individual in South Carolina. We spoke on phone and had communication by e-mail. When I called him back with the tracking number USPS he said he would PayPal the amount that evening. Four days later with a couple of friendly e-mail reminders no payment had been made. No phone calls were answered and his voicemail box was full. I then looked on Marks Vintage Swapmeet under scammers alert and found this same guys name! I contacted USPS and got a stop delivery and return on the package. I was very lucky to get it on its way back to me. I have been very trusting and lucky with no issues as I liquidate my Husky bikes and parts. I absolutely will not ship until payment has been made. I know some don't want to pay until they know its shipped and I can understand that. Thats why I prefer PayPal so buyer/seller has some protection.

Since this forum doesn't have a spot for scammers to be identified I will not post that individuals name on this forum but would be happy to give it in a PM or e-mail. His name is on Marks Vintage Swapmeet.

Nothing wrong with posting hard, factual information here. Feel free but post accordingly.

CH is not going to create a forum section with a "Negative Vibe" .... to many people with too many axes to grind.

By and far we are a high class forum. Different from almost every other MC forum onthe web. Most, if not all of our members are equally high class.

After having been burnt myself several times, I also no longer ship anything until payment has been recieved.

Glad you were able to recover the tank...

I agree. You should post up as a public service to fellow forum members. I have posted up a couple of times about legitimate companies who dropped the ball severely on customer service. It's good to be able to alert other people that they may have a prolonged unpleasant experience if anything goes wrong with their order when they do any purchasing from these companies. If nothing else will, the internet will do wonders for making wrongdoers clean up their act.

Thanks for the go ahead T, didnt want to without an moderators OK.

There is a business owner by the name of Ken Smith in Woodruff SC but that Ken Smith is NOT the one I talked to.

In personal transactions you should just wait till you have the funds before shipping. I ship a ton of stuff and have many times shipped stuff before payment because I am very trusting and not real smart. :D I have been lucky and most dirtbags, uh, er, I mean dirtbikers are good salt of the earth people from my experiences and have had little issue.

I'm one of the guys that got burned by "Ken Smith" a couple of years ago. I spoke with him several times before the transaction and he seemed ok to me.
I shipped 3 oversize Husky tanks to him and never got paid for them. He made me a couple of promises to pay after he got them but it never happened.
I sure hope karma catches up with him properly.

WTF, that A-hole has been doing this crap for years****************************************! :banghead: In that case THANKS for the head up. Wow, some people. I believe somewhat in karma and this will not end well for that turd.

I am just throwing this out... but has anyone attempted to contact postal inspectors?..Maybe..if they had a few victims they may take a look at this guy for fraud- theft ?.. they may not...but maybe?.. The value of this thread iF nothing more than avoiding scammers is valuable but bringing someone to justice...thats great value (I didnt want to use priceless)
