  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Seat Concepts

Just thought I would post a word or 2 about the Seat Concepts upgrade I did to my 2012 TE310. In my mind if you are contemplating this change it's well worth it. I couldn't ride my bike for more than 1/2 an hour before I was seriously butt-hurting. With the new seat I can go for hours now with no discomfort in that area. Wouldn't think by looking at it that it would make such a difference, but it definitely does.

A word on installation, get the 22$ wide crown pneumatic stapler from Harbor Freight. Hand stapler won't work, pneumatic Bostich from Lowes didn't work for me either.

Which seat did you get? I have a 14 310. Do you have any pics?

I used 5/16" Stainless Steel staples for peace of mind in the rusting out department. :)

I took the easy way out and just bought the whole seat from them - red carbon sides, black gripper top.

The foam and cover are great but Seat Concepts' pan leaves a bit to be desired compared to the original. Not nearly as solid and mine seems to be about 3/8" too long - doesn't sit flush on the sub-frame and it's a SOB to get the Dzus fastener turned (somewhat visible in pic).

Still an excellent upgrade - has probably paid for itself with what I've saved on Anti Monkey-Arse Powder.

Just got mine yesterday. Had them do the install on my pan. Very clean and neat. Better than I could do. Sure looks good. No chance to ride yet, so can't comment on comfort.

I am a big fan of these seats. I have one on my Super Tenere, had one on the TE310 and on my DR650. Very happy with the product for the price. Do yourself a favor and buy a harbor freight air stapler because a hand stapler won't set the staples consistently like a air stapler will. Another option is to take it to a upholstery shop and pay them to install the pad and cover. Use a heat gun to warm the cover or leave it in the sun to soften the material so you can stretch it on. I learned by doing them on previous bikes. I have also helped friends install theirs so I have gotten good at it. Use 1/4" staples. Anything longer can and will poke through the pan and cause damage to the cover and padding and maybe you.
