• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SEM stator repairs

might have to check this guy out...i have a 5 gallon bucket of these things inoperative...i end up using motoplats...

what is the general opinion on the sem versus motos? my original sem setup went bad on my 88...made it misfire and run backwards...really bizarre.

i notice the lighting output seems alot stronger

My 430 (88 see avatar) requires at least 5 kicks when cold I am looking for something that gives a good spark when spun slowly?

I had good results from the SEM on my 84 240 in 84 to 89. No problems. was told to continually clean the unit btw rides to allow it to remain cool. Lots of punters had problems, i got a good one...

Put a chinese coil off a thumpstar and a CDI off the same.
Time it with a battery powered strobe.
Total cost less than $25 aud.
The CDI uses a lower trigger voltage than the Husky cdi and makes starting a lot easier.
I put a post on here somewhere [ with photos ] but can't find it now.:excuseme:
I have this setup fitted to both my 240 and 400 and it has run fine for over 2 years now.
I do have a deco valve fitted to the 400 which helps a lot.

Found that pikky

I forgot! i borrowed a 83 240 to do a race and the magnets flew out! very expensive noise!

Looks pretty slick. dies your grinder have a lug so it can be clamped in the tool holder?
Na just a piece of pipe with a bit of flat welded on and a bolt to lock it in.
Rough as guts but works fine:applause:
Have done 3 flywheels now and all work great.
The tapered mandrel is special and I spent some time getting it right.

I like it. So let's hear about the mandril...

Mandril runs between centers and the inside of the flywheel runs true to the taper.
The outside of the flywheel is all over the place and is scary to watch when spinning.

I grind some magnets away , about 2mm dia/ only on the generator , then epoxy the generator magnets and grind it back out to the original dia.
This looses a little of the magnetic effect but the generator has heaps to spare.
