  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Service at 2,000 miles?

Husqvarna
AA Class
08 510 smr. I now have about 2,000 miles on my bike but it took about 100 hours to get there. Almost no highway miles. All in the city traffic, trails, playgrounds, and one track day. Bike is uncorked. According to the manual I should have done a lot of serious work every 15 hours. I've done the basic maintenance religiously and everything is tightened up. Is there anything I really need to do or inspect at this point?

I'm at 1000 miles and swapping the oil/filter this weekend. Last was by dealer at 500 and they reshimmed valves but I'm checking them too. General conscensus seems to be every 500 or so oil and valve check up to 2000 then they should have settled in. I'd still go with an oil/filter/screens swap/clean every 1000max so you're prob overdue for some oil and a filter/screen clean and a valve clearance check

No one else? Come on. You have an 08 510 smr with 2,000 miles and 100 hours, what would you take a look at other than valves and oil?

This is why we need an SM forum. Any SM stuff non 610/630 falls into '4 stroke' and can get missed by folks who could give good input. I've just found my rear sprocket loose so another item would be checking the torque on ALL fixings. Other stuff, chain/sprocket wear, clean air filter, spark plug replace etc. I think that's probably it. If you've got the manual you'll get the service schedule in that

Would pop the mag cover and check/loctite my stator bolts and wipe any extra metal off the stator and pulsers. Our history if your air filter stays cleaned and oiled ,the valves just never change.Sprocket bolts every 500 miles.
