• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Shift and brake lever adjustments geeze

I just grabbed a few sockets and walked outside to take a whack at the shifter and brake levers....could they be more screwy to adjust?

The shifter nut is so buried in there, between the chain and the bash plate, I'd have to do a bunch of disassembly I think to get at it. Wanted to raise it up quite a lot as it's so close in that when I stand up my big feet tend to whack it.

Brake lever is a bit of a mystery, wanted to drop it an inch or so so that when I stand I don't mash down on it either. Looks like I have to muck with the whole piston linkage adjustment to move that one too.

Any hints/tips on this?

If you have the big foot problem, there are some fixes. Call George (Uptite Husqvarna) and he'll explain the two fixes. One involves some parts and the other involves modifying the footpegs so they set lower and more to the rear (about 1/2 in both ways. 1 714 540-2920.

Was out riding in my MX boots today and the brake lever being level with the peg is a big problem.

I eyeballed the cam to adjust it and from what I can tell there is only a minute amount of adjustment that I can make before I run out of adjustment on the linkage to make up for it. Certainly seems I can't drop it the 1" that I wanted to.

I'll have to give him a call I guess, thanks.

The shifter is less of an issue comparatively but between the lack of feel in MX boots and how easy it is to hit the brake lever, it makes for some interesting stopping heh.

I also wonder, I'm planning on raising my seat at least 2", once I have a bit less of an extreme bend in my legs if it may be easier for me to work the controls. I may wait until I raise the seat.

Got some Pro-Taper ATV Hi bars in the mail now too. Gonna get this all nice and sized for me eventually.

I adjusted my rear brake a good deal below level with the peg. The adjustment on the actuator rod for freeplay is about bottomed out but it's worked for me no problem.
