  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Should I....09 TE450 for 10 TC250???

I've been pondering this question for sometime now.

The story: I bought my very 1st dirt bike and it was a brand new 09 TE 450. The thought was having a do-it-all bike. I could ride on the road and do some trail riding. I was also thinking I could slap some sumo tires on it and get back some trackdays when I felt like it. But then my buddy took me to an MX track. I've been mostly on the MX track since and have done very little trail or pavement.

After riding it for a year, I've found my self on the MX track about 80-90% of it's life, with 100% MX since Oct 2010. While trying to muscle it around....I was thinking, "I might need something smaller". Especially as a beginner. I also find myself adjusting/removing things on it to cater more towards MX style of riding.

I love my TE & would love to have both. The thing I'm struggling with is do I give up the oppurtunities the TE gives me (street, sumo, trail...) or go with something smaller and geared towards what I'm actually doing? I'm also planning on doing some more Harescrambles. Having a new born also has moved me more away from the road. The reason I got such a big bike as a starter was the 6 gears and power needed for the road. On dirt it's big for a newb like me, on the street it's fun ringing it's neck. I want both, but can only have one. I'm also going to probably join a MX race club next year as I get more experience. Should I do a trade, or stick with what I got??? Thanks.

The TE is a great bike (I own one) but... If you think you're having fun on an MX track now, wait till you try it on a TC250.

Ditch the TE and get the TC 250. I own a 2010 myself and it does everything. You'll never want to touch another TE when you feel how light and how well the TC handles.

Yep get the TC. You already know which type of riding you like to do and thats MX. The TC is an awesome MX bike and a lot of fun in the trails. I would consider the TE a trail bike for the street.
