  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Whilst pulling apart my bro's 2K WR250 (love playing bike mechanic did l tell ya that :P ), to do a top end, thought l might check the PV action which l've always suspected that they are jamming up.
Pull the thing apart and F me, with amount of carbon on the PV as soon a started cleaning the PV mech's the whole jammed up.
2 hr's later and face that could be seen as a racial slur, managed to clean them up, lube the bloody thing and the whole action is smooth again:

Question, how many out there pull apart the PV when doing a top end?

I did on my road bike (Yamaha TDR 250), does that count? Hoping I won't have to pull the top end on my 360 for a while (I just jinxed myself) but will surely service the PV's when I do.

Nah I jus clean mine every ride OMG. WFO 1-5th on way back to car for a few seconds! :)

Seriously mine are never carboned up more jus spoogy/oily(that sweet jet black oil). What oil ratio/jetting/riding style he doin? 32:1 castrol tts with 98 octane never a prob(touch wood)

Tell him to stop riding like a girly man n twist that right grip some more! ;)

Mine were clean after many hours and didn't require disassembly, I believe because of Amsoil and good quality race fuel. On other bikes I have bought used or was fixing for friends I had to take them completely apart and clean them. Easy Off Oven Cleaner works great and so does soaking the parts in a bucket of carburetor cleaner.

Because of the oil (Motorex Cross Power) and mixture that I use, I never have any issues with power valves. They stay clean and free moving. The only time they get any attention is when I do a top end overhaul.

True story, but the route fuel mix (pre and post combustion) make's it's way to the powervalves is through the venturi.
So yeah pv goop is jetting related me finks.

Yeah a lot of slow riding and the top end is about 120hrs old (118 to be exact), ratio's always been 50:1 but the last time l rode it, felt like the PV's weren't coming on and there was an air leak...see what happens when his pit crew buys a 4t .
Always wondered why he likes taking my 360 more than his 250...brothers:censored:

+1 on the easy off oven cleaner- was told that by a friend who has done it. Thanks Russell.
Agree- Amsoil seems to be clean stuff- I'm running Interceptor 40:1.

Have tried oven cleaner in the past but on this particular PV, wasn't game to leave it overnight as its got a nasty habit of eating away the surface...wirewheel and dremel so much easier!!

I pulled my power-valve covers off today (on my new-to-me 07 wr250), lots of carbon...decided to pull the power-valve assembly and clean everything.
Right side did not want to rotate at all...Left side rotated partially.
Thanks to penetrating oil, I now have them rotating completely...but still can't pull them out.
I think I'll leave them in, and proceed with cleaning everything else.
