  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

sick of getting screwed on prices here (Australia)

Husqvarna
AA Class
so i need a new water temp sensor and jumped onto halls to get the part no. and an idea on price. no worries, $14.50 so i figure maybe allow up to double for the "screw you cos you live in australia" tax. nope, $60 here from my local dealer! thats 400%!

so sick of getting screwed with prices on everything here.

sorry, rant over.

Hall's is fantastic. I'm so glad I could drive there if I needed something in a hurry. Their next day delivery is excellent too. I appreciate your rant as I also own an Aprilia and parts are ridiculous.

Sorry for your pain but it would be great to live in the land down under,on my bucket list to visit...someday.

You can order from the US but make sure that they don't list a value or send it as a gift as your customs guys just charged over $200 duty on a 165 kit that used the riders parts. I shipped it insured for $1K and he got reamed because of it. We have our share of issues in the US but being raped by the customs guys isn't one of them.

I feel your pain!!
I get all my stuff from Hall's now. PFG the importer has no interest in supporting the old bike anymore.
Hopefully things will transfer to the KTM importer & service picks-up

Ouch Wally, that is called getting screwed for trying to do the right thing for sure. Although I'm pretty sure our customs guys have their way of ruining people's days as well. I think the best way to get stuff to Oz is in luggage....

Australians have always stepped up to the plate to defend Western interests during hard times. :)
I don't however agree with some of the social policies.

I would so much like to go to NZ and AU.

As far as I'm aware, you are supposed to declare anything over $250 value imported to Aus & pay duty on that

Depending on what you mean we probably dont agree either.

I try to buy Aus, but in reality we really do get butt f''''d in regards to prices. I am good mates with an ex KTM dealer. They do slap on a fair margain but their costs to access the stock is just ridiculous. That is also putting aside their franchise costs, high labour, premesis lease etc etc.

My advise would be to not declare anything. I had my Wr head sent over for work, had a lot send back, had it insured but nothing declared with a value. Good thing is customs are fairly lazy, dont make it easy for them and you should be ok.

I was trying to support my local bike shops but buying here too.
It was important to me that by mine and others support, the shop would stay open.
In reality, the Jap brand's(& previous Italian Huskys) stock all come via the US, so we pay twice for mark-up and freight before it gets here to Australia.
In the end I just joined everyone else & went online.
