• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Side Stand Options - MK Frame 74 450 WR

Dear Husky Community

I bought a 1973/74 (?) 450 WR a couple years ago.

The bike was very loving upgraded and built up by a previous owner and it rides like a comp bike.

I’ve been using it more recently on single track trails and have started to find the absence of a side stand rather annoying when having to stop and open gates through properties and also down at the family farm. I spend more time trying to carefully balance the bike on a tree, gate post, fence, etc than actually opening the gate.

After 2 years, it’s time to finally put a side stand on!

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone that remakes the MK frame side stand or a suitable alternative? It’s quite a different looking setup than my other Huskies or even any of my other dirt bikes.

Any help would be appreciated. I am located in Australia.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Jono

A couple of ways to go:

1) Do periodic searches on ebay for a kick stand.

2) Buy a universal kick stand and clamp around frame or swingarm - again ebay has many choices (picture attached)

3) Make a replica kick stand- only 7 parts needed (dimensions approximate)
a) Short tube for pivot - 24mm OD x 16mm ID x 26mm length
b) Upper tube - 22mm OD x 18mm ID x 115 length
c) Lower Tube - 18mm OD x 14mm ID x ? length (slips in upper tube so will need to make long enough for overlap and to hold the bike at the angle you prefer)
d) Stop plate - Not sure the dimension, but it is 6mm thick
e) Bottom shoe - 40mm x 40mm x 2mm thick
f) Hook for spring - 3mm thick rod x 10mm diameter (a washer welded of similar size will work)
g) Strap support near stop - 12mm wide x 35mm long x 2mm thick
