• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Single Shock Spherical Bearing Supplier

PEZBerq

Husqvarna
AA Class
Does anyone have a source for the spherical bearing used in the lower linkage connection to the frame for the single shock 1986 models. Part number 15 11 256-01. It is item 48 in the parts book as below.

This bearing gets a high load and tends to flog out. The dimensions are 16 mm ID, 30mm OD, 19 mm ball width, 15 mm race width. I can not find a source through local bearing suppliers here in Oz. Any leads much appreciated.

Try Andy he has limited supply. www.hva-factory.com

Did you also search the bearing suppliers Woodee? Yes Andy has some NOS which are £48 plus his min international postage of another £45 makes it a very expensive bearing....but he does have them of course. How badly do I need one????

Wooddee bought the last cheap one on earth Pez.
To be fair he gave me his old one which I thought was really nice.

Dukkman I also fitted a good used bearing...well it had much less slop than the old one! Would be nice to removed the free play in the linkage but I guess it can wait for now. Anyone have any other sources ...or done a mod to fit an available size bearing .

Dukkman I have also noted the GE17 as a candidate. It has a 14 mm ball width and a 10 mm race width. It would need spacer washers on each side of the ball and a 0.5 mm thick sleeve for inside the ball. Both mods are possible. The narrower race width will increase the stress load on the dog bone link but is unlikely to be a problem. However the cost and bother of all this mucking around would make a NOS bearing from Andy cost effective unless of course one had the gear to fit and machine the sleeve to size yourself. Of course once they are all gone we have no choice but to seek alternative bearings so it's only a matter of time. I wonder if All Balls can do something? Ohlins might be another source perhaps?

some on ebay nos #52392 seller is tmleader also southwesttooling $23 sorry dont know how to place the link.i have not used them or vouch for the quality or fit but might be worth a try.

Jo360 is the man! John from Aurora gave me the good oil. It's a wide series NMB MBW16 bearing. NMB are part of the Japanese Mineba group. NMB specialise in aircraft landing gear bearings, suspension bearings ..... and tram couplings - what the?

They have Teflon lined and non lined. I suspect the Teflon wouldn't handle the loads. What do people think?

John at Aurora is going to try to source for me. He also suggested a company called CompFriction in Canberra as a NMB agent in Oz. I'll report back on what I find out.

Being specialty aircraft bearings I suspect they will not be cheap........

Thanks Jo360!

BTW Dukkman you have got to stop looking at the cattle dog. Does yours know anything about bearings? Mine is just interested in chasing cars!

Found a source for the NMB brand bearing MBWT16. Spherical bearing with a Teflon impregnated liner that is maintenance free. I have been assured that these are used in race car steering rod ends and suspension links and the Teflon does not extrude under load as it is impregnated into the liner rather than a plain sheet liner. The bad news is that they are £66 each :-(

My search will continue but we now know they are still available ...just very pricey.
