    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

SM630 advice

If you have the SM630 you might want to have Seat Concepts change the seat cover to a non-gripper cover. I originally had the standard cover and didn't like it at all - you could not slide your butt at all. Great for my dirt bike but not on the street. I called them and ordered a custom non-gripper cover for $40 and it makes a big difference.

And use the $20 (install fee) to buy a stapler and learn how to do it. It only takes about 20-30 minutes and there are lots of instructional material out on the web.

Good to know, as I was planning to order one soon for my SMS... I also wouldn't mind finding an extra seat from a downed bike so I can keep my stock seat as an option.

Not unheard of. The SV650 has a solid low-maintenance engine. I wish I still had mine. One guy on the SVRider forums had 150,000 miles on his and it was still going strong.

I miss my first ride!

They were so much fun, I had a nakid 2002 and and then a 2002 SVS.

i wanted a 2003 and up sv naked. but got the 630 instead.

sport bikes last if cared for. most crash them and get rid of them under 20k. 23k on my r1 still going strong. dont know if i ever het rid of it since newer bikes are not super advanced.
 
The last sportbike I sold was this one:

I rode it to Sturgis in 2009 with a bunch of Harley riders. It was fun riding at 20-25 mph in the twisties, letting them get way ahead of me, then playing catch-up. :)

14,000 miles and it was as good as new. I didn't do much modding of my sportbikes. When you've got a 425 lb, 160+ HP motorcycle, why spend a bunch of money to get another 5-10HP out of it?

I would have kept a sportbike and got the 630, but the wife won't stand for 2 bikes in the garage.
