• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi guys

A couple of rides ago I had a stick lodge inself in behind the front number plate/ligh assembly and rip one of the plugs apart. It instantly killed the bike, so I presume the plug pulled apart has something to do with the engine kill switch. Anyway, I had to re-join the plug before I could get the bike going again. It was only near the end of the ride I realised the mileage hadn't incremented at all which I thought was strange.

A couple of rides since then and I have noticed the speedo does not work at all. It powers up with the key being turned on, but when moving there is no speed readout, and the mile-meter does not increment.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I need to do to fix it? Do you think the cable/plug that got ripped apart has anything to do with it, or is there another cable I need to be looking at?

i've had this on my 610 twice. disconnected then reconnected battery and it sorted it. dunno if this is the same as yours due to the damage you mention but worth a pop

yes I know your problem . You have lost the pickup magnet on the disk for your hall sensor.
Easy to check just takw a look at your front disk.

Either that or you lost that connection to the pickup magnet as well, which seems likely since the stick came up in there and knocked something loose already.
