  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SPLITTING THE CRANKCASES

AA Class
I have to split the cases on my 360 Auto, drive side oil seal is leaking, do I have to buy the special tool or is there another way? If I have to get the tool any idea who stocks them please?
Any advice gratefully received.

well u need motoplat puller to get the ignition flywheel off, the primary gear is a taper fit ..well it is on the manual gearbox and is a tight fit, i use a two jaw puller that pops it off no probs. Not sure any one sells a genuine Husqvarna factory "mangle" anymore .This is the tool used to split the cases and put them back together ....I used to borrow one from Hampshire Husqvarna dealers A and S in purbrook but they ceased trading many moons ago. I made a case splitter using a thick metal plate with a big metal nut welded on it and some 7mm holes that lined up with the holes in the r/side case ignition .... a big bolt with the same thread as the nut was use and this screws down on the crankshaft [with the nut on so as not do damage the thread] and bingo off she pops. I cant remember how i got the cases back together but i know i never ever used a big hammer..its just the crank bearings on the crank which are the tight fit ..... seem to remember putting the left case in the chest freezer overnight and the right case in an not too hot electric oven for 5 minutes ...the contraction and expansion of metal makes a big difference. i will try and post some pics of my tools if they are still in the shed. Whereabouts in england are you?

I live near Devizes in Wiltshire , so not too far from you. I have a motoplat puller, and I made a puller for the primary gear which is the first gear clutch spring holder on an auto. It is the crank case splitter/ assembling tool that I guess I need to buy or make.

devizes home of wadsworth beer!...well the first sweep of the shed and ...no case spliting tool to be found:mad:.....no matter i have lots of stuff at my parents house..but i work away a lot so may take a little time...you could try Husky sport in cheriton Hampshire to see if they have the tools or even a husky specialist like nick spry who would just split cases for you.

Steve .... there is a seller on ebay selling the mangle type splitters. I will have a look later and see if I can find it.

I had a look Ian but that tool seems to pull the crank in only and not to be used for splitting the cases?

Here's what your looking for, maybe they will ship across the pond if you ask nicely. http://www.ebay.com/itm/260932553559?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649. I believe you can also use some of the more expenive universal case splitting tools like that made my Motion Pro http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motion-Pr...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item337a5aba5c

I bought that mangle from Eurojamb but split cases on 3 engines with a universal case splitter from www.husqvarna-parts.com
Phillip questioned why not buy the Husqvarna one he sold also . I simply said because I do not only work on Husqvarnas
