  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

stalling 450te 2010 when selecting first gear

B Class
When i select first gear my bike will stall, what can it be?
It starts good. I must drive away whith a lot of gas. And than it runs fine.(sorry for my english)

Try to select 2nd gear and see what happens.

Also, check the gear position sensor also known as the idle trasponder assy, the wire might be burned or parted or unplugged, or there may be a piece of junk in the sensor that is blocking the metal contact on first gear, that's why it would be helpful to know if the bike stays running in second gear. In the pic below, the smallest brass dot is Neutral

Thanks for the replay, i will go check the gear position sensor. And i need ti use the clutsh more to drive of. In 2nd gear no brobleme (i think)

Does it stall immediately when you select the gear? If so does it feel like the clutch is engaged? If so that might indicate a clutch/lever related problem.

Otherwise the side stand or gear position sensor ideas above would be worth looking at.

Uw Engels is beter dan mijn Nederlands !

I need to drive off with a lot off clutch!
And sometimes its fine.

Maybe i found the probleme, ter was a small red wire from the ignition coil to the steer( behind the head light) and was damagde. The first owner had jused it as a supermoto and i think he had a gear indicator on the handlebare. There was also a black wire leading there from the gear position sensor. I will give it a try this weekend.

Do you mean "drive off with a lot of throttle"? Sounds like a clutch issue. If adjustment is not working take a look at the clutch basket - sometimes it gets notched and does not allow the plates to separate properly (keeping them engaged). I had that problem on my KDX and I just pulled the basket and filed down the notches...the problem went away but I will eventually need a new basket.

Seems the clutch might be engaging too late. Try adjusting the clutch pressure springs and do a clutch master and slave purge

Good fun, I am sure, except they let you trample all the tulips :-)
I probably would have crashed half a dozen times

There was a usles red wire from the ignition coil trough the handelbare, this was wornt out. Every time i steer complete to the right it got caught up.
