  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The ongoing fault with my 2011 TE449 has been diagnosed as a faulty stator. This appears to be a very expensive and hard part to source from UK. Trying to avoid BMW costs and hoped if I put this request out on the forum somebody might be able to help.

PLEASE HELP CAFE HUSKY.

where you from ?

I got mine from BMW in Germany. Cost me around AU350 to get it here. The parts from BMW comes complete with Freewheel Clutch.
Husqvarna Australia would have charged 708 dollar and it doesnt even come with the free wheel clutch.
BMW got better prices.

Thanks for coming back to me and the link to calmoto. Is this part suitable for my bike (it states '08 - '10 G 450 X). Did you replace the flywheel as well ?

Lastly did you have any import taxes ?

Appreciate your help.

Anyone else out there help ?

BMW bought Husqavrna i think in 2009. So they had the G450x for another year and Husqvarna installed the Engine in the 449 and 511. Yes it will fit. besides the Transmission and Clutch , the Engines are the same.
When you order the Generator from Husky or BMW it will allways come as a complete unit. Means - Flywheel / Stator and Igniter.
But if ordered from BMW the part comes including the Freewheel Clutch.
I just installed the BMW Generator in my 511. Plugs fit aswell.. no modification needed.

Australia does not charge Import Taxes as long the Goods value is below 1000 dollar..... which i actually find a great thing as i order Parts from Rocky Mountain ATV and come sometimes over 1000 and still have no taxes to pay.

PS: you can also look the part up on Bills Motorcycles .... they sell BMW G450x Parts and ship Overseas . Any Model year for the G450x is ok to select from...

9880sts,

We've been able to source a new HQ generator direct from KTM (HQ) in Austria. £370 shipped, currently out of stock but advised available 3rd November. Understand that this is definitely the issue, apparently the generator is shorting to earth when bike gets hot.

Wait and see.

Thanks for your help.

There was a stator on Ebay last week for around $150 USD. If it is not there, please let me know as I have the guys email address.

I have bought a G450X stator, and the fly wheel fits but the slot for the Woodruff key is to narrow and i am having it machined to fit. Also the Free wheel Clutch is a heavier item, fits ok but is not as machined as the Husky part, was it designed to be lighter? If so could the heavier Bmw part effectively , once bolted to the fly wheel be a heavier item, having the effect of not raving up as quick and changing the torque?

same on my bike.. worked perfect.

9880sts, did you machine the woodruff key to fit? Did the extra weight make any noticable difference,or did you change it to the Husky Freewheel?
