• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SWM replace Husky

Interesting that the Chinese are learning to master capitalism as the western world is trying to master socialism

It just a cycle - no pun intended. Successful capitalism always leads to socialism as the uber successful capitalists (industrialists, speculators, and lawyers) figure out how to steal everything from the masses resulting in what we're seeing in America today. On the flip side, successful socialism always leads to capitalism as the uber successful socialists (bureaucrats, party bosses, and lawyers) figure out how to seal everything from the masses resulting in what we're seeing China today. The only real difference between them is that the hyper-capitalists generate products and jobs while the hyper-socialists generate nothing useful, which is why capitalist cycles tend to last longer than socialists cycles.

Yin and Yang.

The secret is to learn how to be happy healthily....beyond confusing pleasure for happiness.

Watch people everywhere disintegrate thru unearned pleasure....emotionally starve as their self worth diminishes.

That takes 5 to 10 years. Never taught how to hunt for emotional nourishment.

Hard stuff with bikes helps.

Sweet!

If these (both models) arrive in the USA I think there's a market for them.

Any plans for a 450cc street legal enduro with Fuel Injection and a 6 spd gearbox? They can use the old TE450 (not the TE449) as a basis for it. That's a model sorely missing here. NOBODY is offering a 450cc street legal enduro here. All you can get that are FI with 6 gears is a Yamaha 250, KTM/Husky 350 and 530 models. They race a 450 class in Dakar and Supercross, but NO 450 street legal FI enduros, WTF??? Beta offers a 430 but it's still got a carb. 450cc is a great all around size.

Sadly no, but there is a 500! It used to be 450, but the "crowd" wanted a 500. Picture is from the 300 btw (but to give you an idea). Not sure about the US ! I think they have someone though. SWM main focus is Europe, Australia and the US!

Actually, l'd love a 500 as an Adventure Bike, with a fuel range of at least 600klm

The engine, in appearance, looks similar to my 2008 SMR511.

Are these bikes bound for the US?

One option may be the CCM 450, which should arrive in the US at some point this year (http://www.ccm-motorcycles.com). Fuel range is 370km. Guessing its Rotopax if you want more range.

Simon Pavey loved his TE449 for the Dakar. Would be incredible to see a Dakar SWM entry one day :-)

From the youtube page... "We couldn't no longer resist...we just had to make a short test ride with the recently arrived and brandnew SWM RS 650 R. ;-)

Sorry for the bad video quality...it was a spontaneous idea and we just had at hand a cellphone and an app for editing the files."

Tacky as hell. Not to mention the graphics are stickers that will soon peel off. The starter sounds sluggish too. SWM better have some professionals overseeing things. Clearly not at a level that should go public for a new brand.

To be fair, this is a vid from a German motorcycle dealer authorized to sell SWM, its not a corporate offering. On the other hand, those few seconds of video are currently the only thing out there showing the new 650 actually running... SWM should have sent demo bikes on Hard Alpi 2015, not around a car park!
