  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Has anyone ordered this seat?

Where did you order in the USA and what was the cost?

Hi,
Sorry I can't help with the US bit as I am in the UK but I can give a bit of feedback on my experience.
I bought the seat in the UK and it cost me approx £100
The main point I found was that it gave nowhere near 35mm drop. My original seat height was about 960mm and post new seat was approx 945mm, a drop of 15mm.
Must say I was not very happy.

I ordered one from my dealer. They're only about 3/8 to 1/2 inch lower. and they're even harder than the stock seats.

I just hacked a pile of foam out of my '11 310. Looks like I got about 2" out of it, doesn't leave a lot of padding but it's enough -- did 800km on the weekend. Definitely not plush, but I like being able to get a foot on the ground and it wasn't like it was particularly soft to begin with! Doesn't cost anything to try, anyhow, and if you really don't like it in the long run, you can always spring for an aftermarket one later.

Call Dan at Motoexotica. The Husky lowered seat is about 1.4 inches lower than stock. I paid about $130 to my door. The PITA factor is the same as stock.

I also just hacked foam out of mine. I used a electric turkey knife for the initial cutting and then a disc sander (the cheap one that attaches to a drill) to smooth it out a bit. The seat actually turned out pretty nice and there was no expense since I already had all the supplies laying around the house. A pneumatic staple gun would have been a lot easier, but I didn't have one.
