  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te 450 headlight bulb problem

mfp

Husqvarna
C Class
I have a new TE450 and in the last couple of months, I have blown 5 headlight bulbs......

I figured the first one was rough trails. then second one i touched it with my finger and figured the oils made it blow. the next three....i cant figure it out.

The bike is brand new. This should be a warranty issue, right?

I got a volt meter and i am reading 15 volts to the battery and headlight. Maybe the voltage regulator is out?

I cant get an answer from the dealer.

Has anyone else experienced this??

its a crappy bulb design, its also dim as hell... Buy a new/better light. motosportz.com Sells a nice replacement fore cheap. I just decided to gear my bike for motocross. But the light on motosports is perfect.

If you change out your light dont go the Baja Designs H4 route expecting it to be a breeze. I have the BD light on my TE. The stock straps are way to small. Had to use the stock '08 50mm Zoke straps to fit it. I was just barley able to get them poked into the shell after enlarging the holes as much as I could with the material available. I will try the UFO Ray halogen the next time around.

15 volts might be a concern. It's not uncommon to see 14.7 charging to the battery. If the voltmeter is off a bit it could say 15 and be fine. But it sure would make me suspicious if I had blown 5 bulbs!!! That's a bummer.

Dan at Motoxotica sells a better (IMO) replacement bulb for cheap that puts out just a bit more light anyway (it's 45 watts instead of 35 watts). I've had one of those on my 09 TE 450 for almost 1000 miles now.

I was losing bulbs too fast as well so i go to a KTM guy i know and he sells me a bulb that ends up melting my headlight housing so now i need the whole friggin headlight, not just the bulb. I went to the motorsportz.com site and didnt see one. Anyone have any other suggestions for a reasonably priced AND better-than-OEM headlight for a 2009 TE450?
