  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE250 '10 Oil Change question

Jacob Redding

Husqvarna
C Class
Sorry for the slightly noob question.

So I ride a 2010 TE250 setup as Super Moto around the inner city area of Melbourne, Aus.
Very light road riding, a lot of in and out of traffic. Rarely get over 70kph.
I'm yet to take it off road so it spends most of it's days around cruising around 5500 rpm.

I had the first service done at 370km.
The mechanic advised me to change the oil at 300km intervals.

Does that sound a little excessive for the style of riding i'm doing?
I mean sure enough if i was hammering around the trails at high RPM's for 300km. But i'm definitely not.

Regards,
Jacob.

Sexy, have thought about super moto for my 2012 TE 310.

300-500 mi for me trail riding, so 2-3 times what he recommended, which is more like you were weekend racing.

Thanks Glangston.

It's a great little bike for running around the city. Nice and nimble.

300-500mi sounds like better intervals than what i was suggested. Thanks.

Agree...A 250 supermoto would be a license-revoking riot on wheels in town!

Also agree on the 3-500 mile oil drop interval, assuming you're not hammering around - just keep in mind that it's only running on a quart of oil, so be sure use a high-quality, low-volatility lubricating oil that doesn't cook off its additive package in a heartbeat.

Its better more than less on this little engines, on my 250, I change the oil every 2 rides, each ride is less than 80km.. Sometimes I ride it work, 12km round trip, no highway, I even use my 50z rear sprocket, so, the bike is not fast at all. But I think as SuMo, it is fair enough each 300km
