  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What is the advantage of one pipe out of the head instead of two. I think the 2011 te310 will be a real good seller.

the older 250 and 310 used the same head as the 450 510, so the options were use the same "system" for cost or build a unique set up for the smaller displacement. They chose same. THis bike has the new 250xlite motor- so it has all its own parts. So that's why really.

What does that do? well having an overly open headpipe can effect the tuning and flow for the motor and lead to a weak low to mid section of the rpm's. Works fine for screaming. Just efects getting there. This was a factor on the ktm rfs bikes in the early 2000's and why the "torque header" from HT racing became popular.

So this pipe should work better for the displacement overall.

The spiel about the new 310 is suggesting a stronger bottom to mid. If this is the case then its a great outcome as it will more fully differentiate it from the 250 and put it more clearly as a legitimate step between the 250 and 450. I love my brothers 09 TE310 but feel it was more kindred to a strong 250. The larger tank and 6Kgs weight loss will make a significant change to range and handling. The new hubs look just great. Yep this bike will be a great success building on the existing 310's strong support.

i really dont think the the 2011 TE310 will sell much in AUS due to increasing the capacity to 302cc from the sub 300 mark. therefore making the 310 the same price to register as a 450 or larger.

but then again it would be handy for the people that want more power than a 250 and the same weight but rego is a key componant for many enduro riders.

The 11TE310 will bridge a gap in the US- part time riders/racers of enduro/ harescrambles/ dualsports with a bike that gives NOTHING up in terms of power and weight concidering its plated just the opposite in fact.

Its competing with a plate against: what the Klr250's dr250's wrf250r's what else?? there's an obvious advantage in the 2011te310 or the 11te250 over the competition.

Very excited for Husky in 2011!

The engine capacity issue re rego costs is not an Ozzie issue, it is the bloody rotten NSW State Government over 300cc impost. Does not apply in Victoria for instance.

As of the 1st of July this year, all Green slips will be the same price in NSW. So it will no longer make a difference

Not true, they are now having more gradings. It means that 250 to 700 cc will pay the same. This is about doubling a 250 with a modest reduction for 300 cc and up. Also over 1300 CC's will be clobbered by about a 30% increase.
Sorry, guess I have hijacked this post a tad.

Hello,
Has anyone heard if a 2011 310txc model will be offered?

If not, hopefully a parts kit will be available to convert the newer 250 motor to a 310 for those wanting it. Probably be an expensive upgrade if the stroke is indeed increased along with the bore. Man, my 250 is pretty damn snappy!
