  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE310 Clutch Bleeding

Husqvarna
AA Class
So I've had an issue with my clutch getting mushy. I installed the master cylinder rebuild kit but can't seem to bleed it and get any solid feel at the lever.

I've tried to back bleed with a syringe and it won't work. Almost like the line is blocked, but I know it is not.

In trying to figure this out I broke my slave cylinder by blowing the circlip out of the groove and cracking it.

Please help on how to bleed. I've tried everything and nothing seems to help. I'm already out $150 for the slave cylinder and don't want to have to bring it to the shop and pay any more.

Thanks!!!

Back bleed blockage: the m/c piston may be too far in, blocking the relief port... add some freeplay to the lever. Compare the new & old parts- maybe you have a slightly different piston. o-ring or cup may be blocking the port also.

take the line off at the m/c and back bleed from the slave cylinder. Then you'll know everything is good from the brake line down.

bleed (if you can) with the slave cylinder not bolted to the bike.

your original problem was probably up at the master cylinder.

good luck.

Have you tried bleeding it the old way... pump lever a few times, hold lever just off the bar, and release bleed screw for a moment, close... Repeat till line runs clean or without bubbles making sure reservoir is topped w/fresh fluid. I figure you could use the syringe too just drawing it down while topping the reservoir. Two possible fails is seal at reservoir and seal for slave in the case.

Take the slave cylinder off and with your hands pump the piston inside this will pump fluid through the line

Back out the master plunger adjustment screw, too far in will do what you said about ( something blocking it).
Later George
