  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te449 blowing smoke out exhaust

Husqvarna
B Class
I noticed after a oil change my bike blows smoke out the exhaust when reved. The only time it Dosnt smoke is when the oil level is at the bottom of the sight glass. From what I can remember it's done this since new. Should I be concerned?

There's lots of threads about overfilling. What happens is that the breather goes into the airbox lower and the filter.
It's happened to me alot if you take off the airbox there will probably be oil in the bottom and also oil spots on the filter.
The filter actually touches the rubber fuel injection intake trumpet and oil can soak into the filter there making it very easy to be sucked in.

Having said all that my bike has now done 10,000 miles and does smoke initially on start up. It still feels strong but probasbly needs a rebuild.

I have the original breather blocked off. I have a zip ty breather? I heard other people are able to run more than 1500cc of oil with this breather. I run 1500cc of oil and it smokes.

1300cc is the max. I run the ZTR kit as well. The original oil level for the engine was 1150cc and then 900 was the fill once the BMW design became the Husky version.

Got it found that when the bike is on its side stand or leaned to the side it wil smoke if its vertical no smoke at all. I'm assuming this is normal

Ahhh, that's a different story! It takes at least 500 miles for it to break in properly. They do puff a little smoke here and there until then. You'll also notice it will gradually feel more peppy the closer you get to that mark. What oil are you running?

my first 500 miles were rough. But as Huskynoobee says, it did settle in and start running right! My issue was flameouts. Then all the sudden, they just stopped.

As in 980 miles on the odo. The thing is I brought it in under warranty with 150 miles for the same reason. The guy laughed and told me they tend to burn a little oil until broken in. Now I'm at 980 and no warranty still doing the same thing. I run motorex 5w40

Maybe is broken a valve seal. Take a video of the process, please, and go to a dealer. It's no good and no breaking-in.

So let me clarify. Bike has about 980 miles. Blows smoke on start up and reving with the proper amount of oil in the case. I also assume it's burning oil as I have had to top off oil every 100 miles or so. I will check the spark plug to verify when I get a chance . So where should I start valve check? Compression test. Sorry for the confusion
