  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te449 Max RPM or Rev Limiter?

Bionic

Husqvarna
B Class
What is the max RPM for a te449 or te511? Is there a factory rev limiter?

My bike seems to run out of RPM's at what I would guess is 7k-8k rpm or so. This just sounds a bit low to me. I hit what feels like a rev limiter on hard acceleration in 2nd and 3rd fairly regularly. Am I just pushing the RPM's too high? I read the airbox may be a restriction that artificially holds the RPM's down. I also read the JD Tuner can add enough fuel to boost the RPM, but the limiter feeling is still there even with my tuner installed. I know the dyno chart for Motosportz' te511 showed a big jump in available RPM after the tuner install though.

There is a flat spot there where the map is too lean and limits the engine from revving any further. JD fixes the issue and allows for hp to 9120rpm.

With the power up plug and jd tuner mine was like this. Ive now a full fmf exhaust and derestricted airbox.....thats three 70mm by 10mm holes cut in the air box lid. The result is night and day the bike revs so quick and bangs the rev limiter id say at about 11000rpm. Blast power out of slow turn with a big mid revs hit and screaming top end......big grin factor

I am thinking the air box lid modification may be a big key to this set up. I drilled a row of 10mm holes along the top of the air box lid and had already boosted the top end fuel on my JD Tuner (set at 6 for top end) and it revs much better now. Faster revs and higher rpm. I am hitting a spike around 11k-12k before the bikes rpm's settle into about 9k constant. Not that I hold it there of course, it just gets there better now.

My jd tuner has no setting above 4. Ive tried up to level 6 mid to high revs but this would stop the bike reving out. Low to idle revs mines stock on level 2. My fmf exhaust makes a big difference, even the akra which came with my bike needs derestricting. The air flow holes should be in line with the intake trumpet in the air box.

I'm having the same problem, with bike maxing out at 7000rpm, as confirms my PCV autotune trim table. It can't be a problem of lean map, cause I have PCV+Autotune installed and TC airbox.
What can be the problem? Spark plug? Fuel pump?

Also make sure that the power up plug is connected and you have race map II on the dash. You should be able to hit the real limiter (around 11k) with ease. Unless you have the stock exhaust, you may have a clogged cat from running a richer fuel map.

Make sure your TPS is working properly by checking the auto tune screen.

The problem seems to be the db-killer. This morning I rode the bike without the db-killer, hit 9750rpm at 150km/h. Bike works perfectly.
With db-killer 7250rpm max... Boh

Arrow Slip-on titanium. I've to say that that I cut the db-killer to improve the sound and the flow. Probably this modification makes it worse... Strange
