• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

TE630 kickstand vs TE610 kickstand

Okay, I'm a 610 owner ('08) and hate my kickstand.

I've read reports that the new TE630 kickstand is a direct replacement and works on the 610s. Anyone try it yet? Anyone with a 630 care to measure the kickstand and report on its length?

I've mitigated my circumstances somewhat by putting a big foot on my stand, but (like any guy on the planet) could always use another inch or so.

Im curious about the 630 stand fitment as well, but if you did the big foot why don't you also have someone local lengthen the stand as well?. Cost me like 10$ by a local welder..

The big foot pad is not a welded piece, but rather a rubber pad that is about 3" diameter by 3/8" thick.
 
The 630 kickstand is 13 1/2" from the bottom of the foot to the center of the pivot.

Mine was able to contact the swingarm and put a big scratch in it (happened at the dealer or in shipment). I solved the problem by grinding some material off of the foot. I don't know if you'll have the same problem with it on the 610; just something to be aware of.
 
when my kickstand was stock it wore a slight groove in my swingarm. Now that I had it lengthened for about $10, by a lil over an inch it's never done it again. It maybe though that the tab the stand is mounted on has been bent away from the bike from when it was way too short in stock trim though, so the added length may not be what stopped that.

Speaking of wearing grooves in swingarms. Also might be a good idea to check on your mudflap. Alot of people, myself included noticed the stiffening ribs on the front facing side of it started to wear grooves into the swingarm too. I used a utility knife and some filing to cut the ribs away and to stop that from getting worse. Now the tension or load of the friction is spread out on a larger surface instead of more focused and pressed against the swingarm by those nasty lil VERY pointy and sharp ribs..

Read a few links where some people had the same problems--Thank's to this great Forum one of the first things i did was take off my sidestand-cut it off about 20mm from the top of the section where the bolt goes through -inserted a solid steel rod that fitted tightly-slipped a outer section of pipe down the stand about 75mm welded the steel rod to the tubing of the side stand about 18mm longer than the original --machined welding and then slipped outer pipe over the welded section and neatly welded the new sleeve and sprayed 8000km later and still :thumbsup:

I have seen those ribs and was aware of them. There are no marks in my swingarm from them yet. But, the next time I can get out there and work on it, I'll dremel them down.
 
A note about starting, at least on mine:

I have to use the fast idle lever every time I start it, and let it run that way for a minute. If I don't, it'll stall.

Now that it's loosening up, the idle speed seems to have dropped a little. I had some stalling issues early on and the dealer suggested turning up the idle. I had the idle going close to 1800 rpm. Now it seems to be back down to the 1700 range and I haven't touched the adjustment screw.
 
I understand the Honda mud flap is a perfect fit without the ribs to run the swing arm. On my bike I just put a small strip of adhesive rubber on the swing arm. I know others have dremmeled the ribs off.

I dremeled mine off. It was quick, easy, and free.

I believe I have a newer SM kickstand on my '06 te610. Dan from Motoxotica knows about the mod.
