• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thor Force Knee Guards (info/review)

robertaccio

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Great product almost a knee brace in construction. Great impact protection. Offers some real knee support against hyper extention. Very light. Comfort 6-7 of 10. Price @ $90
Need to put locktight 271 thread locker on all the hinge screws (8). I lost 2 screws prior to lock tight. Thor is very responsive and replacement screws are on the way. RN

My only comfort level (6-7) dig is that I'm not a fan of the neoprene securing straps.

I have a set as well, very good product and good protection. But I do not like the Velcro straps but otherwise very good

I rode with the Thor Force knee guards for about 5 years. Loved the protection while I was learning to ride dirt bikes. Recently switched to some Thor Static guards which have much less drag but still provide very good protection.

I have a set with about 4 seasons on mine. Love the fit & feel but do have a problem with the velcro on the straps catching the lining of my pants.

I sprang for the old style Asterisk braces. $600. I hate them. They press on my shin and are uncomfortable to wear. I have never worn them on the bike.

Had a coupon, so I bought a set of EVS Axis braces and love them! I have previously owned the 1st gen Asterisk. I would often overtighten the Asterisks (and would never know it until somewhere on the trail when my leg would begin throbbing) and they always felt very restricting. The EVS braces are actually all-day comfortable. I wore them all day Saturday and Sunday at the Shane Watts school and never noticed them (or maybe that's just because Shane was busy torturing us. ;) ). At $375 per knee, they are definitely not as economical as the Thor Force.
