Hello, anyone out there ever measured the crank bearing housing in their cases?
I think I am struggeling with too tight holes. After splitting the engine due to low end bearing failure (thanks Andy Elliot for a new rod kit) I found the crank bearing broken after 2.5 hours running time!
I measured my cases to 0.055mm under zero and the bearings at 0.005mm under zero.
0.0022in and 0.00022in.
This gives 0.05mm press fit for the bearings. I think that is too tight. The bearings where not turning easily around, but where fine when taken out.
I would say 0.02 - 0.03mm press.. For inches, devide millimeters by 25.4
This is by the way the liquid cooled cases 84-88 400-500cc
