  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Too Many KMs?

Pete

Husqvarna
AA Class
I own an 05 TE450 and am thinking of buying an 08 for my wife...i have found a second hand one, but has 2000kms on it...it looks to be in great condition and is really really cheap.

I am thinking, with 12months warranty remaining this a pretty safe buy, as long as he bike is as good as the photos and over the phone description.

Any thoughts on what is too many kms for one of these? I know it doesnt hasv the steel valves of the 09 version, if they are no good would warranty cover them?

The bike is miles away should local dealers honour the warranty?

I wouldn't think so at all, especially if there are records of valve checks and doing a mechnical once over before buying. I would have to buy a bike every 6-12months if they wore out after only 1200 miles. I am hitting 1800 miles on my 06 te250 that I picked up used, that never had a valve check until 1100 miles and had two valves that were just barely out. I think the ones with the big valve issues were mainly the 04 TE250's

2000 Km's is nothing. It's barely broke-in!

Warranty? What warranty? Does the land down under have something we don't?

We in the US only have a 6 month factory warranty. That kind of mileage is nothing as I know of 4 guys in WA that have crossed that threshold on their 2008's!

Thanks for the info. Yeah we get 2 years unlimited Kms on Huskys of all sizes and models.

KTM gives none, yamaha/honda/kawa gives 3 months on parts only. Not sure about Suzuki, Gas Gas etc

Pete - I have *no* idea why your post needed approving. The forum is acting a bit weird as of late. I've checked you status and you should be all set.

Doesnt matter, it doesnt do it now.

I bought the bike $8700 AUD - its great. Plastics and stickers are tired, but not stuffed...considering its for my wife, i am sure those plastics will be getting some more treatment over the next few months :)

Now to get get the cable spec so i can make my own ibeat cable and download the software...

My buddy has 10000 kms on his TE250 and I have another friend who has 15000 kms on his 05 TE450. Both without any issues.

I have about 1,800 MILES on my TE. No problems other than standard sort of stuff (tires, chains, sprockets) although I did have to change a seal in the clutch slave (not technically a Husky part and a common issue it seems, since fixed with an upgraded seal from George).
