    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Torque values

'87 500XC

Hey guys,

I've looked through all of my manuals about 10 times and I cannot find the following torque values:

Stator plate
Clutch cover

Does anyone know what these are? The only TQ chart I found was in chapter 5 of the maintenance manual and that does not list any of these TQ's.

Bike is a 1987 500XC.

Any input is much appreciated!!
 
I have value 1986 500xc
Flywheel nut 51 ft/lbs
Re-torque after 5minutes - 30 minutes and 120 minutes
these are for 1986 500 cr/wr
Flywheel nut 52 ft/lbs
Stator plate to crankcase 6 -12 ft/lbs locktite 241
Magneto to stator 4.5 - 5 ft/lbs locktite 241
transmission cover 9 ft/lbs

That's awesome thanks a bunch!!!

I managed to find the flywheel after I posted this but none of the others. TQ values should be the same for my year, it's the same motor if I'm not mistaken.

Where did you find this info if you don't mind me asking. I bought CD manuals and I have the paper copys as well, I must be missing a particular manual that has this unless I can't read or something haha.

Ok cool, I'll pick up an 86 2t manual then for reference.

And yea I was thinking blue loctite on that as well, certainly couldn't hurt anything haha.
