• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Fred viddy, not too much he was having battery issues.....and the usual worst case we did not get viddy from the waterfall section, it would have been a great show, more water a ice like rocks than I have ever seen in that section later into the day.
on this viddy that rutted uphill has been featured in more than a few LAMC races down there in both directions, Ive seen it with bikes littered about the place and steam everywhere, fred and I and finally George after he unstuck himself from that first rut just rolled it nicely.

I cant really get a good explanation of the "waterfall" but maybe we have some viddy or fotos from other times we rode the section. this time you could see the floodwater eveidence with stuff hanging high in the bushes and trees
 
George went first and found a deep hole washed out into the first drop in his bike was nosed in vert and he was little stuck, we got him going while fred and I looked for lines my usual lines (I maybe get through here 1 or 2 times per year). most guys stay low but I usually ride up and rock jump the steps. fred went first from a drop into sandy muddy stuff and up a vert face boulder which we agreed was the best way then rock hop across the other stuff. fred popped up on top got bounced to the right from a knife edged rock then found out the rocks are like ice. and got pitched way over almost 180 with him jamming himself to stop his 350 from going into a 5-6 ft deep pool.....I found out that SRS Sidi soles are like ice skates on that stuff. we did save freds from submarining....oh his fan was spraying water like an outboard motor that's how far the bike was pointing down over the edge into the pool.........we got lucky and fred did the wedge/never give up/ maybe we can call it the NETRA wedge... if his 4t went into that pool the recovery would have been a nightmare, my mantra "remember where you are" in the mountains of Baja 50 mile south east of tecate------basically middle of nowhere. we got it pulled back. then I rode a slightly different way that I learned from not being first**************************************** Rain and flood water completely changed the complexity of that area....very cool. but ya gotta be careful out there Ill post a foto of Georges happy escape from injury in another "new" washout that he rode into.
 
You can see Georges Cavern, his bike was nose down vert , luckily he ejected and he was wedged unhurt between the walls and had to worm/shimmy to free himself his arms were locked in by the ditch walls and his face was embedded in the sandy dirt. we found some tires laying around and put them in front of the ditch.
finally note as a sponsored Café Husky ride I carry the CH sticker on my rear fender!!!(sponsored? yea sure!!)
 
also on day 1 we hit some fresh rain spots and I was on freds rear fender.......he completely deluged me with mud water , so everyone else looks clean including bikes... but me Im a wet mess and my bike looks like a post rain race machine (all that within the first hour of the ride)
 
Always like your RR's R. Finally got a GoPro and a proper helmet mount. I need to post up some stuff myself.
