• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Trail Tech X2 install

B Class
I am getting ready to install my Trail Tech X2 (Halo) on 08' 610. I have a few basic questions for anyone running this set up on thier 610. I don't have much access to shop supplys and tools so I have to keep my modifications as simple as possible. I did a search and didn't quite find what I was looking for so I apologize if this has already been discussed.

How did you mount to the fender support? I'm looking for some options to consider. I was "thinking" of making a small aluminum plate that is bent on the ends to match the outer fender support angles. Mount that to the fender support to create a flat mounting surface. Then mount the X2 mounting plate to the fabricated aluminum plate.

What about the horn? Does it need to be relocated? It appears to be very cramped where the X2 will be located. Will the rubber mounting straps reach the forks without any modifications? Seems like it might be a stretch. (No pun intended:D)

THANK YOU!
Dave

Hi Dave,

For mounting on the front fender. I just took off that black plastic thing on the top of the fender on my 08 610. After doing that, I was that able to use the tabs that come with the mounting kit that connect to the bottom. It sits flush on the fender.

I have the HID X2 and it fits ok. I did bend the horn back to get a better fix.

Exactly what I did. I'm not running the SM front fender and had to fab a little bracket to get mine exactly how i wanted.

So Kelly, how well does this fit on the 08 SM610 with SM fender? I am looking at the new and restocked goodies you have and wondering about another order....Ehum....

It fits very good. You can just use the supplied pins to install it. Several ways to make it work. It is an awesome light.

- Understand it is not DOT though and running the 4" at night with oncoming traffic will make people mad :D The 2" works well and is, by it self, way better than the stock light. Just a FYI.

BTW, you are a great customer, thanks.

BTW, the only oncoming traffic to worry about would be a LEO. :busted: Every one else just has to squint their eyes.  Ok, Now I need to wait till my create gets here so I can unpack, put together the new baby get her broke in, buy a new helmet and leather jacket, count my change and put in an order.
And, thanks for the compliment. Order my be big so I really have to count my $$ to make sure its all in there.
