  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Troubleshooting TE511 Issues

Hi gang,

Excited to be here. Yesterday I picked up 2013 TE511 that's not running. Ive owned several 2015+ huskys and didnt realize how hard it is to find parts for these red headed bikes.

The bike supposedly ran as recently as last week. The previous owner said he dropped the bike and it ran rough after that until eventually it shut off later that day and won't restart. I pulled the air filter and noticed a fair bit of oil in it. Ive decided to work through the things basic motorcycle maintenance steps but wanted to ask the folks who know these bikes better if there are other items I should also check. I will be replacing the spark plug, air filter, oil w/filters, and the battery. The battery is showing a full charge but it's clearly an old unit and may just not be producing enough power to turn the motor over sufficiently. I will also be replacing all of the fuses.

Im concerned the issue is the fuel pump. Does anyone have a write up on how to replace one and do you have any aftermarket recommendations since the OEMs are pretty much nonexistent at this point? I am not hearing the fuel pump prime when I bump the starter, but again, it might just not be getting enough juice from the battery.

The clutch case is leaking a bit. Does anyone know where I can source a gasket for it?

I also noticed one of the 6x6 connectors coming off the positive terminal is wired together. My guess is the plastic housing has failed so I win re-pin it into a new connector and put some dielectric grease in there.

I have a video of it trying to kick over if I can just figure out how to upload it...

Any and all advice would be appreciated!
