  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC250 Starter Failure

Drew Edwards

Husqvarna
C Class
This last week my starter on my 2011 started to crap out. I was messing around on some single track. After riding for a while, I stopped to grab some water. I then went to start my bike back up and the starter just clicked.. So I pulled the kick start out and gave it hell. It acted a little funny but it did start up just fine. About 20 minutes into riding again I noticed a ton of oil spraying on my boot so I shut it down vey quickly. Come to find out, somehow the starter pinion body (where the worm gear goes into the case from the starter) destroyed itself. So now all the parts are on backorder for the pinion body and worm drive gear.

Has anyone else experience this?
I ended up just ordering a cap for the case so I can still ride the bike as a Kick only bike.

Here's what my started looks like

Did it break the case?

check where the worm shaft goes into the case in front of the flywheel.

They crack there.

Luckily, it only broke that pinion body I was talking about! I dodge a large bullet for sure! Parts came in today from Al-mighty Halls Cycles so I got my bike race ready for this weekend!

Does anyone know a short cut to get the starter motor out on a 2013 te511 - not enough room between down tube of frame & engine
