• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TYRE PRESSURES

Hi there, got a 2011 630SMR and ahv been havin chocolate arse moments quite regularly, the back just keeps steppin out when ahm tryin to crank it over, theres still about a half inch of tyre left but it just slides too readily...

Ahm used to sportsbikes but ahv had a Buell XB12 for the last 4 or five and could even post a not too bad time on Nurburgring on it, even ground the pegs away so ahm not scared of finding the edge of the tyre, just fed up chewin a carmel with ma arse, serious, line up, brake, gear down, tip it in, power on and ooooyaaa fecker...

Tyre pressures are doin ma head in though... Ahm used to higher pressures but the book says 25.5 front and 28.5 rear... That just seems too low...

Anyone shed some light ??? Ah thought the big dog would handle but it really is a dog just now...

Cheers...

I'd say stick with the recommended pressure. Different bikes & tires have different needs. Last week I cranked up the pressure on my bike to 20 psi for mostly highway travel. I was all over the place with weaving & the beginning of what felt like a tank slapper. Dropped it down to 16 which I recall is what was recommended for pavement & it's as stable as can be again. :excuseme:

What tyres are on it?
I used to run 24 front and 23 rear on my Husaberg 650 supermoto using Michelin Pilots, handled a dream once warmed. Takes a little while longer to warm than a sports bike as they are far lighter so having the pressure lower means the tyres move around more and heat quicker.

Hmm I just put 17" rims and Michelin pilots sports, on my TE449 and it is a guessing game on tyre pressure I was assuming as they are SMR rims similar pressure to SMR 511, dropped the pressure a little as TE lighter. Be interested on others thoughts

Probably the original Pirrelli's it came with, I got the bike with only 900 miles on it and they hadent been used, certainly no heavy duty cornering as the chicken strips you could land a 747 on...

Ahv heard comment that there crap but with the reccommended pressures in they feel ok, certainly enough to be scrubbed almost to the edge.

Ahv used Avon Viper Sport and Supersports for as long as I can remember and the 3d Ultra is really sticky too but different bike so its not apples for apples... I dont do a million miles motorway so splashing out on a good ultra sticky tyre is to me the way, recommendations welcome...

Was out a blast yesterday and the bike felt good, no sliding about and in the twisties kept the sportsbikes honest even taking a couple of scalps along the way... Ah think ahm gonna like this bike...

Cheers...
