• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

un even piston ring wear . early 90s honda cr 125

hi all . few of you know a lot bout 2 strokes .
today my riding mates cr 125 started to lack power and wouldnt kick start . but still crashstarted and ran cleanly so we took it home

had very little conpression (no resistance on kick start even when doing it by hand

upon stripping it everything was in order . piston is worn but not excessivle or damaged but the ring has really odd wearing . on the side opposite the gap it has worn to 50-60% of the thickness of the rest of it for about 30% of the circumfrence

where the gas is one end is worn down 1-1.5 mm when you but them up against each other its a huge step .

put the ring in the bore and the end gap was huge and i could see daylight between the ring and bore in 2 places ?

anyone seen this before ?

sounds like a bad bore job and a poorly sized piston. you mix those up and you'll get piston slap which will eventually wear the bore oval on the skirted sides. two strokes put a lot more stress on the piston skirts and can do what you speak of over time.

you need to do the standard first to mike the bore check for out of round and do the rest of procedure, proper piston fit ring end gap etc etc . you may need to do a rebore if its out of round, all the standard rebuild stuff.

yep something wen't wrong on the last rebuild was it bored then i think it got off center mic it with a bore gauge in at least 3 places along the area of ring travel if there's enough meat in it to get it round & centered and you can get a piston big enough your good ... if not can you say E-BAY cylinder or hello Eric [gorr] i need a 144 kit for my honda
