• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Unknown Shocks help please

Husqvarna
A Class
I bought a Wr125 (79-80?) Years ago, its time I got it back together.
Think most of its there, but I would like some help with the shocks please. They are pretty much sealed / non rebuildable. However Ive cut and welded non rebuildable before without problems so dont want to give up too easily.

The shock body was crimped around the top and cap holding rod and piston in the shock body.
I drilled the crimps but still couldn't get the cap out. So I cut the top of the shock body off allowing access to the Internals. After I had released the gas from the sealed inlet by drilling them out I stress!!!
They are very simple inside nothing to them and very little wear if any so would like to reuse them.

Does anyone recognise them, any info would be great. Thanks.07-02-08_1335.jpg07-02-08_1420.jpg09072012095.jpg

Of course it should say SHOCKS in the title, iv,e spent 20 mins. trying to edit it, cant see how to.

Filled completely and bled, 150# nitrogen.

Do you know how they secured the cap to the shock body besides the crimps around the outside of the tube?
My initial idea was to machine the tubes and cap and add schrader valves to gas them, there by making them easily rebuildable in future.

Just had another trawl on the net and it looks as if these may have had remote reservoirs at some time. Not sure though.
Thanks.

After relooking at the photos thoes are DiCarbon design, meaning they look to have a piston that seperates the oil from the nitrogen.
Then the piston need to be 2 1/2 inches from the bottom can't find my notes.
Have threaded the tube then made a cap to hold the seal head assy down.

not gas girlings as far as i know the only gas girlings i know fitted to hva were the wide bodied type on the 1978 250cr...lasted about 2 months then in the bin!..other huskies had girlings but not of the gas type...if you are doing 30 minute motos or long trail rides in hot conditions then those de-carbon units will be useless... if you just want something to hold the back of the bike up then they will be fine...may even be betors....again not the best compared to the industry standard ohlins or white power.

Good lord ! ......... are you actually going to get this one running Paul
I will have to hassle you more.

Yes there is a small piston with O ring to seal in the bottom of the shock body keeping the oil and gas separate.
That's exactly what I want to do, thread the tube etc . Any more info would be great.
I need to get the cap out of the the top of the tube I've cut off so I can tig it back together. Any ideas as to how they sealed them.

Thanks.

Betors..... any more info? Might be wasting my time trying to rebuild them, but ill give it a go.
The other one has good damping and no leaks and has been well used.
I have no idea what they ride like as the whole bike came to me in bits.

Could it be Corte Cosso shocks ?

Bryll . Thanks for advice look here. http://www.oldcross.com/Ammortizzatori.htm

The picture at the top of the page with shock parts look very much like mine but not quite.
Second rod on right looks almost exactly like mine, hard to see.
Third one along lower shock mount/shock body again looks very similar but not quite.

If I knew how they secured the cap in the shock body they would be easily rebuildable (providing I could get seals etc)
Any ideas on the cap??
Thanks.

Love your Jack... Looks like a boy.. I got a girl...

Yep little man. A Parsons. Had him for 4 years but he had to go when my twin boys were born. He couldn't tell the difference between the boys and our 2 Bengal leopard cats, which drove him nuts. Couldn't risk having him around them. Cried when I took him to be re-homed miss him. Got great video of him chasing me around in the woods for hours could not tire him out, he loved it. Very hyper dog, think all the breading for hunting foxes was still in him.

I got some crappy Corte Cosso that came with a bike I bought, I'll try to take them apart to see how to rebuild the good pair I have.
Will let you know what I'll find out.
