• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

always a problem with translations by a computer system

there is no such a thing as context depended and what could be a normal sentence structure (in this case Hebrew) the computer translate it word by word and it doesn't make sense in English.

sorry to say but there is not realy a clue that comes over in this message.

Hey, xxx Black, get someone that is more fluent in English to post your question. It is not intelligible as you wrote it.

I' m getting that he knows the serial number but either cannot find it on the head tube or cannot read it, as if it has been defaced or worn somehow

He may have to register it and realizes this can stymie the process.

The number s on the head tube. Take it to a metal working shop and see if they can make it legible. Or the Forensic people at the Police.

the forensic people would make an X ray and the nr would apear the impact of stamping the nr in the tube leaves a mark on the metal through the whole thickness of the metal tube,

Still then I never seen that much "normal'' wear that would scrape so much metal from the tube that the number is not readable especialy not with a bike younger then 10 years.

smells fishy if you ask me.

If it hasn't been mechanically altered (ground off etc) Magnaflux should show you the numbers, probably the cheapest & quickest way to get the numbers to appear and only takes a couple minutes. Quality engine builders or maintenance people involved in lifting equipment (cranes, towmotors, etc.), Metal specialty shops, machine shops, die shops, should all be equiped with magnaflux setup's.
