  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Video Of Creek Run

Nice ride .. We have many many creeks here to ride in ... Thats about the only place I don't like my suspension .... I just get too much feed back through the bars there but I like riding in them ... ESP with some water there ..Not worried about the Excel rims there and more about the engine cases ...

What bike are you riding? It looked and sounded like it had more low grunt than my 08 TXC250 ..

Riding a 2009 TE 250. Geared 12 50. If you want a guy that will set your suspension up, call John Curea at East Coast Suspension in Enon Valley PA.

Too far away for that help but thanks ... How do your forks feel at the top few inches? Really soft or what?

I've been running a 14\50 setup on my bike.... maybe that 12t FS is what is making your bike look so grunty ...

Oh My--14\50 how do u ride it in the woods??? Stock is 13\50 and I think that is way tall for tight woods. 12\50 in the tight woods is just right IMHO. My suspension guy gets stuff from all over the US, relatively cheap to ship back and forth. My suspension is dialed, I didn't even change any of the clickers when he got it back to me.--It's SPOT ON:applause:

I might have sort of turned into a ridge runner here and not so much a true ST rider on most days ... I've really got very good on clutch feathering these days \ places the 14T FS is ~too high geared and I need to slow the bike or just help it pull in the lower RPM range up a hill or where ever, as needed ....

The 14T makes the bike feel like a 5-speed as it spaces the gears out so much for the streets I ride here .... But I really miss the feel of the 6-SPD CR on the open, gnarly trails as I'm staying more local now with lots more hill climbing encountered each day ....

The 13T front is where I should be at now or maybe a 14/51 combination ... maybe I'll add the 13T back before I ride tomorrow or next week ... As I said, I really miss having an almost perfect gear for almost everything that a CR 6-speed offers in the dirt...

A suspension that is somewhat dialed makes all the difference in the world in gnarly ST or DBL track ...
