  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Vintage Evo racing in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho

Hi all,

I quit desert racing back in 79 to start a family and am looking to step back in after all these years. I see most of the events are MX. Do you know of any enduro or Hare Scrambles or even Hare and Hounds that are geared towards us Vintage/Evo guys? Though an MX will be fun I grew up racing the open desert in So Cal and would love to do some of those kinds of events.

Thanks

http://www.siegecraftnw.com/hammer.htm You may have seen these guys. I watched them a couple of times and there is room for mellow riding, even though they are on MX tracks.

The off road stuff around the NW tends to assume (require) modern suspension. 90 minutes off road on vintage suspension would be brutal on the typical courses we ride.

Thanks, I have seen them. I am sure it would be brutal...but then again so was Barstow to Vegas in 73 on a 73 400...but I was also a16yo. LOL. Thanks for the information. I was just hoping there was a vintage group for old off roaders.

We have vintage RIDERS classes at the OMRA www.omraoffroad.com but we tend to ride modern bikes. Yes, I did a couple of those desert races when I was 16 and Im pretty sure my legs were the primary suspension system on my RM125. The legs arent nearly as springy now :)
