• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm really liking this device so far ... If nothing else, it shows me the circles I'm running in around the mountains here ...

FYI:
I'm not 100% sure on this one but I lost several waypoints the other day ... I think I had the 'Do not show waypoints' options selected on the device and when I exported the ride data to the MEM card, I did not get the waypoints ... Next, the memory was erased on the device before I realized I had no waypoints on the card ... Needs more testing here but beware ...

I also lost the right, top rubber button off mine ... Not a show stopper as I can still NAV the device without it ... I was making changes using my gloves yesterday and apparently, it got fat-fingered off ... Maybe more of a waterproofing issue than anything ... So I'm not too worried about it ...

Does the voyager have any map data loaded in it- I guess what I'm trying to ask is does the gps show streets/highways? And how is the install???? Need more pics! Are you guys replacing the stock instrumentation with it or keeping it?

No maps came with my device ... But I remember someone saying maps can be loaded ...

Install was easy... ESP if you have used their devices before ...

1) Speed-0 was just a matter of adding a magnet to the front brake rotor and attaching a cable there ..
2) Tach -- just wrap a wire around the plug wire
3) Water temp -- splice a piece of plastic into your radiator hose
4) Power -- just hook into the battery

5) Then just plug all wires to the device ....

I used the plastic mount included with the device ... Sits a little higher than I like but unless I go over the bars or slam into a tree, it should be Ok...

A piece of radiator hose was added on the bar clamps incase the device vibrates into the clamp ...

PS -- I also confirmed that any waypoint not displayed by the device at the time of exporting to the MEM card, will not be copied to the card ...

FYI:

Here's the fix I found for the rushing air sound the device captures at higher speed ... Place a small piece of foam over the speaker ... I used silicone gasket maker to glue it on the cam ..

Hey Ray Ray, I wasn't sure there is a long enough portion of straight radiator hose to attache the plastic sensor too, can you tell me and or post a photo of where you have your temperature sensor for the Voyager hooked up to please?

Thanks in advance,
Brock

This is not off my bike but from another thread ...My bike has the stock Tee connector but there was no problems mounting there for me ... At the most you might have to slice an inch or so out of one of the lines due to the length growing due to sensors length adding to the length of the hose..

Hey Ray Ray, got the voyager installed and dialed in. Question for you- do you have the LEDs programmed for temp alert and if so, what temp do you have yellow and red set to???????????

Mine 1st alert is at 245 degrees or so ... You'll probably have to run your bike hot and see what your numbers are and set your temp numbers accordingly as boiling points can differ on bikes ...This device has 4 settings for this :-)

Another FYI on the device here:

Today, the GPS file I loaded into memory on the voyager was too large to fit in memory SO a few tracks did not load AND the device gives no feed back that it did not load all the data from the small memory card into memory ... You can monitor this memory issue by checking the memory usage on the device ... If at or near 100%, you might need to take action ... Another give away on out of memory is the current track is NOTdisplayed on the screen as you move down the road ...

I was just riding (and logging my current ride) and did not use the map screen on the device till I was ~40 miles from home and needing to ride another 50 miles or so ....It was then I noticed my current path was not being logged to the map screen AND the area I was currently in had no track on the screen to follow ... This was a timed trail verification ride so it was useless to try to hack my way to the end of the ride ... I was able to record the mileage and the time it took to get to the specific point on my journey ... So tomorrow, I'll return to this location and finish the verification process after I figure out how to deal with the memory issue and my GPS file.

So, need to be aware of how many files are stored on the sd card?

Its not so many files on the SD card but the amount of data in each file that will be imported from the card into memory on the voyager device ... The device will fail silently to import all the data from the file to the device's memory and that will pretty much stop any active logging(?) and if you really need the trail listed on the map screen for navigation, it might not be there ...As was my case today

As a work around, what I should have done today was erased all my memory data and then custom loaded the few tracks I really needed to navigate the area I was in ....

Any maybe check the memory usage meter on the device to ensure you are not too close to the 100% mark ....
