• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Trying to install the WER damper on my 2012 CR. I knew I'd have to remove a portion of the front #plate for clearance with the damper - but I'm not satisfied with how much I'd have to remove - I'd be taking off almost all of the brake line 'holder', and I'd have to take off the front fender brace.

Has anyone else ran a WER damper and show me some pics? Preferably of a CR or WR 125 with a normal front fender (no headlight) - I'd like to see what it looks like completely installed without having to hack up my own front number plate.

Thanks!

Drew has a mount plate that allows the use of the brace. I do not understand having to cut any of the fender. There is no way around cutting some of the # plate though and some filing on the lower aluminum mount is also required.

see the opposing angled bends to lift higher over brace (under where plastic baggie is in center or the 3 o clock of the dampner.)

Fit the anchor point on the right side, ditch the headlight / mx plate mounts and use a couple of headlight rubbers. The mx plate should not need too much trimming.

Great product, needs some minor fabrication skill. Good help from Joe, but why not call and consult directly with WER (Drew), I'm sure he will more than happy to give you instruction.
I used WER on my last Kato the 250EXC it was perfectly suited for tight single track. It required minor thoughtful/logical fabrication for installation.

I agree WER dampers are good - I used it on my YZ all year and was very pleased. I have a few reasons why I'd rather not use it on this bike, none of which are being intimidated by the minor fabrication work that you mentioned. Some of the reason why I'm choosing to return the brace and sell the damper is because I won't like the look of the bike after having to cut the front # plate, and modifying the front fender brace. I wish I could say that I didn't care about the look, but I do. The rest of my reasoning is simply because I can sell it and add a small amount of $ to buy a brand new Motosportz damper - which I'd rather have anyway because it's a cleaner system, and it works great as well.

I'm not knocking the WER damper at all - it's just not for me on a this bike. I decided to return the mounting kit to Drew and (I'm hoping) the refund process has started.
