  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

warm up time

How long should I let my txc 250 warm up before riding? They told my friend he should let his KTM warm up for about 5 minutes. Every KTM ive ever had would over heat in that amount of time.

I give my bike a minute or two. Usually I would say give it enough time to take throttle cleanly, but my TE will take throttle pretty quickly, so I wait a bit longer. I've had other bikes (that weren't Huskys), that took up to five minutes before they were warmed up enough to idle properly and take throttle.:D

Same here, Ill let my 510 idle for a few minutes and then ride very easy with small throttle openings and low RPM for another 5 to 10 min.

It depends on the weather. On a cold morning Id wait a few minutes but if its warn outside it should not take long, maybe only a minute or so.

My 510 does't respond well until its warm.Weather is the biggest factor. If the bikes been sitting in the sun or shade and what no also.

Put your hand on the bottom of the left side radiator. When it is warm to hot (not burning) it is ready to go. It takes about 40 to 60 seconds in Aussie depending on seasons. it may take a tad longer in the colder climes.

Feel the bottom of rad then the cylinder when they are warm it's ok to start putting around, then when you feel heat on the oil filter cover then it is ready because now the oil has started to come up to temp. When the oil finally warms up it will flow thru the filters and oil pump properly and not just blow around thru the by-pass. Later George
