  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone know where to get a water temp sensor like now? 2010 TE510

I'm being told they are on back order....any dealers out there with one sitting on a shelf?

Rancher1,
Apparently I don't have enough "credentials" to send a PM yet

If you are on advrider.com or thumpertalk.com I can PM there as my credit is good. Or if you PM me I can respond.

Thanks
Mike

yesterday,we got 3 of the water temp sensors off backorder.they are the most recent version which hopefully will be more reliable in case any one is in need.dan

Ok, so Rancher1's WTS shows up the same time as my "backordered" one

So here's the problem, fiche shows 8000A6736 as the part#, got one of those and a 8000H3649....uh, anyone have some insight?

Mike

Stupid question...I am assuming I have to drain all the coolant to replace the water temp sensor. Any tricks so I don't have to drain and refill?

I've never changed a temp sensor, but my first thought would be to quickly remove/replace without draining. If the radiator cap is on I'm not sure much coolant would come out.. maybe a couple of teaspoons?

On 2011 310 I just replaced the temp sensor - nothing drained out. I also used some dielectric grease in wiring connector in hope of getting better reliability.

Well the sensor change was easier than I thought...but it wasn't the problem.

So far I have replaced:
Fuses: 15a,15a,20a
Relay: Power
Water Temp Sensor: 8000H3649
Dio greased all electrical conntections
Checked coil wire and gave it a couple extra turns to make sure the plug cap and wire were seated correctly
I don't have the knowledge to bench test the fuel pump, so thats still an unknown.

Then went for a 20 minute ride

Pulled up to the light, fan kicked on, RPM dropped and the bike died. Fuel pump would not prime and I could hear a faint clicking on the right side under the tank (another Relay?)

Waited about five minutes, fuel pump kicked on and got it started for a very short time (5 seconds maybe). Then the pump would not prime again, got a ride home and trailered it home.

Bike is going to MCC tomorrow, I'm out of ideas, time and patience...350 miles on this bike and a 2 week Colorado trip in the future and NO faith in this bike!

Mike

I bought a new fuel pump but hate to replace it not knowing thats the problem. I will have the dealership download iBeat and hopefully come up with a fail code.

Thanks for all the thoughts/suggestions
