  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Weird issue - TPS?

I am confused....had my 2011 TXC 250 running just fine and up for sale. For kicks I fired it up yesteday, and ran into the following problem: Bike starts - barely - then runs poorly and stalls. Smells like a lot of fuel. Then a few minutes later, bike starts, runs decent, then stalls and back to smelling a lot of unburnt fuel. It backfired once too. I had smoke coming out of the air box...thought I was on fire :)....weird. A couple things of note...I just replaced the stator as it was shorted out, I also replaced the fuel pump (Cycle works) as the stock one appeared to be getting weak, and I replaced the inline fuel filter, cleaned the injector (12 pt). Any ideas on what to look for? I checked the flywheel key. Could it be a TPS sensor?

Thanks

Just out of curiosity how longs that gas been sitting. Did you treat it with anything? it's doesn't sound like you were near the timing and you can check that the gas is flowing from the tank before you put it back together?

Fresh gas. Flows just fine from the tank. The fuel pump does not have a check valve, so when you disconnect the fuel line, gas flows...

You sure the plug wires is seated properly? just seems a lot like gas. I'm sure you've done this but check for any looser wires or plugs in the area you worked.

That's a sign that she doesn't want to leave just yet. The TPS on mine went out of whack once after I did an oil change and used the kicker to get some oil flowing before starting. Had to take it to Motoxotica and have Dan reset the TPS. He couldn't figure out how it happened. Mine ran just like how you described it, except the smoke from the airbox.
